How to improve consumers’ understanding of online legal information: insights from a behavioral experiment

Abstract Past research has shown that online information notices often fail to inform consumers well, even if transparency-enhancing measures are implemented. However, the studies in question have employed designs were restricted pre-contract conclusion scenarios and ad hoc, text-only attempts optimize disclosures. While these results point general limitations of disclosures, they leave open whether optimizing can be substantial value other settings. Our study tests effectiveness multimodal disclosure optimization techniques both pre- post-contract scenarios. The scenario is situation where a consumer dispute with business. this setting not primary target legislation, it more realistic instance actual use legal online.
